Travel nursing assignments in these evolving specialties allow nurses to expand their skill sets work with a variety of patient populations and gain valuable exposure to different types of units.
Med tele or pcu floor better to work on.
Of course i will get what i am given but still being undecisive what path i want to take.
Med surge patient to nurse ratio can be more like 7 11 patients for each nurse but this can vary depending on the way your employer staffs nurses on your unit.
Pcu progressive care is our step down unit which is usually 4 1.
Our medical and surgical floors are 5 1.
This is what i think would be some facilities tele unit because everyone is on a monitor.
Nurses on my floor med surg have different opinions on this med surg myth.
Thanks all for any input.
Imho a tele floor is very similar to a med surg floor in the sense that you will use the same time management and organizational skills needed to balance your patient load.
But often it is an intermediary step between icu and a med surg floor.
Our icu is 1 or 2 1 unless they are pcu overflow then you can have 3 pts.
I am having several interviews with med surg ed and pcu.
Telemetry and progressive care unit pcu nurses have the job of caring for people as they transition from critical care.
The nurses sometime take up to 6 pt the same that i do on the surgical unit i work on.
I have an interview this week on a pcu unit so i just want to get an idea of what the unit is and what kind of questions to expect on the interview.
The nurse to patient ratio would be higher than in an icu but lower than a med surg unit anywhere from 1 to 3 to 1 to 5.
A progressive care unit pcu is a hospital unit that specializes in treating medical and surgical patients whose needs are not serious enough for the intensive care unit icu but too complex for the regular hospital floor.
The main difference is that you may see more of a variety in the pt population in med surg but i still had quite the variety in tele.
Working at med surg is a waste of time hard to get any critical nursing care opportunities.
