We recommend this method when framing.
Matting and framing a print.
Matted framing makes it easy to transfer an archivally matted artwork into and out of the frame.
The result is a look that s as handsome and straightforward as it gets.
Instead of floating or matting we frame directly around your art letting the art bleed under the frame.
Framing is putting the mounted matted print into a frame preferably behind glass.
Check that the dimensions of the mat can comfortably frame your print while providing a couple of inches or centimeters of white space around the side of your print.
Matting is the paperboard window that surrounds the print.
Posters of the concert movie or travel variety.
For really exact cuts trim your mat with an x acto knife.
Oversized photographs or art prints.
Mounting matting and framing your prints and putting them under glass or a glass substitute not only protects your prints from dust pollutants and fingerprints.
Be sure to leave a quarter inch of extra inch on each side so that the art print doesn t just fall through the window.
All you need to do is tell them your frame size your artwork size and your preferred mat board color.
In the most common framing style front and back mats and hinge or photo corners keep the photograph flattened while the front mat keeps the photo from touching the glass.
Most prints are displayed with white mats as this helps the print stand out more.
If the art print measures 8x10 the actual mat opening should be 7 5x9 5.
It also makes your work look more professional and valuable.
